Do You Know?
Egg tarts were introduced in Hong Kong in the 1940s by Hong Kong Style Restaurant, Cha-Chaan-Tengs.
They were then introduced in western cafes and bakeries to compete with dim-sum restaurants, particularly for high tea which Hong Kong people known as Yum-Cha.
During the economic boom of the 1950s and 1960s, Lu Yu Teahouse took the lead with the mini-egg tart. Ironically, mini egg tarts are now a common dim-sum dish and are richer than those served in bakeries.
Afterwards, egg tarts were came with many different flavours, such as fruits-egg-tarts.
To found delicious egg-tarts in market is not easy as you think even you can get it everywhere.
Yet, feeling bored with egg-tarts or Portuguese-egg-tarts?
I found something new for myself =]
In night market....
The Dragon Tart
I found out this bakery at Taman Connaught Night Market, they are selling many different flavours of egg-tarts which I never seen before, or maybe you are same with me.
Lotsa Egg-Tarttttttttssssss
Tarts flavours include, Apple Tart, Coconut Tart, Pineapple Tart, Peanut Tart, Cheese Tart, Almond Tart, Blueberry Tart, Wasabi Tart, and so on.
The reason of the hot-sale is not because of the special flavours they have, it also because they baking the tarts and sell it on the spot, to make sure the tarts is fresh enough and more tasty compare with those selling outside. And the price is reasonable, why not to try?
Its almost one of the must to buy everytime I visit to night market. It is really tasteful and special flavours are attractive enough. But, some of the flavours tarts is too sweet to me, like Pineapple tart.
Sorry for I unable to take too much photos of it but I get you all some information about this Dragon Tart via web, you may visit yourself and try if you are interested.
