"As one branch of Sichuan cuisine, Chongqing cuisine is noted for its distinctive spicy and pungent flavors. Chongqing is the birth place of the hot pot in China. Once upon a time, it was a seasonal food designed to protect against the low temperatures and frigid winds of the winter. People would sit around a table, eat hot pot, and revel in the instant warmth that would flood their bodies. Hot pot has become more and more popular today, and it is widely enjoyed by people and regardless of seasons and regions"

Chongqing Chicken Hot Pot- From it's name, I thought that here only served chicken meals, but, I was wrong, except from chicken, you can have pork, beef or fish in a pot and you can also select the level of spiciness – mild spicy, medium, and super spicy. The pots come in small, medium or big serving. Me and my friends were kinda greedy and hungry. We are craving for spicy foods all the time, so, we ordered 2 small pots, which is 1 mild spicy beef hot pot "牛魔王" and another one medium spicy chicken hot pot "鸡公煲". The design on the table was cute~ There is a picture showing the intructions or steps of the processing that how customers should do, which is once you enter the restaurant until you left the restaurant.
Environment from here - getting crowded |
The little cute stove |
That's only few minutes time, this retaurant is full-house and being crowded. Usually, during 6p.m. until 9p.m. were they super busy business hours and you can see many people standing around to wait for the table.
My friend- Heng Yee and I (one more is missing because he is not willing to take photo =[ ) |
While waiting for the food come, we decided to ‘explore’ the fridge where the side dishes were stored. For sure, we wont miss out any chances to take photo to keep the good memories. There were baskets/bowls tagged from RM1 to RM4 of vegetables, bowls of pork / fish balls, noodles, mushrooms, beancurd and so on. We took a basket of vegetable and 2 baskets of meetball then we returned to our table.
Beef Hotpot Chicken hotpot |
First to arrive was the chicken hot pot , the aroma filled our nostrils, triggered a generous flow of saliva .The flavour was a blend of sweet, sour and spicy . The every single pieces of chicken were tender and very tasty. There were also quite a lot of vegetables in the pot : carrots, celery, garlic, onions and lotus root. It's very nice indeed, because I like vegetables ^^
Within 10minutes, beef hot pot were served, another sizzling and aromatic pot. There were slices of beef, beef balls. There were plenty of vegetables like inside the pot just like the chicken hot pot does.
When we looking into the pot, we are feeling annoying about the sauces is going to finish. The waiter came by and ask whether we need to refill the soup or not. It's same, the soup also can select the level of spiciness. Then he poured soup into the pots and then the hotpot turns to steamboat like, so, this is where the side dishes come into the picture. The soup were kinda salty but goes well with rice.
Tips: Try not to get in the way of the steam from the soup as I found myself going all teary-eyed from this.
