Searching food is always a joyful job ever in your life. Why? It’s not only because of fulfill your stomach but also the giving you yourself an opportunity to use your senses to feel and taste about the food, about the world. It would be wonderful moment, isn’t it?

Further, it’s a Sunday evening! After relaxing yourself at home (after dinner as well), it’s time to go out and “stalk” some food, the process of food-making.

Original Flavor of Douhua

Would like to start with a poem:

Dessert gets back our memory,
Memory of documentary,
Documentary with your stationary,
Before writing about the story,
Let’s start our Douhua-Journey. ^_^

Wooden Bucket of Douhua

Douhua, is a Chinese dessert which could get back old days memories. As I remember, my grandmother was sharing with me about her Douhua’s story that there’s a Douhua’s girl who always carry wooden bucket with her bicycle and selling the Douhua. With the wooden bucket, the Douhua can be staying warmer than other types of container.

This “warm tradition” still alive around us, it seems like bonding both generations together, even it’s just a wooden bucket. Also, this Douhua-Stall considered creative as in making different flavors of Douhua besides of original flavor which purely with Soya, there are also flavors of sweet corn and pandan leaf. In addition, the combination of palm sugar syrup (gula Melaka) or clear sweet syrup would bring Douhua to another upper level of tasting the softness of it.

With the combination of soy beans, water, gypsum powder, and corn flour, it can bond all of them together which also bring back some childhood memories. In short, the hard work of making this Douhua should be appreciated because it brought the connectivity from a generation to another generation, may the “warm” between the generations will stay as long as it can be.
